Saturday at naginata practice, our littlest student (daughter of Sempai Nobu) took up her naginata.
Then on Sunday we enjoyed the 18th Uta Matsuri, held at Pearl City High School. This is part of the Pearl City High School Music Performing Arts Learning Center, where student musicians from three high schools "experience the schedule and rigor of a studio musician" and get to play for experienced and great singers - like our voice sensei, Craig Shimizu, Aolani Silva and Ken Sato. It is a wonderful event to hear Japanese enka songs played by a live orchestra of 65 musicians. |
