Poor Penny, Uta Matsuri

Poor Penny.
She doesn't know what's in store for her.
Our Vet has offered a 10% discount on teeth cleaning!
So we made an appointment for her, but first....
Saturday at naginata practice, our littlest student (daughter of Sempai Nobu) took up her naginata.

Then on Sunday we enjoyed the 18th Uta Matsuri, held at Pearl City High School.
This is part of the Pearl City High School Music Performing Arts Learning Center, where student musicians from three high schools "experience the schedule and rigor of a studio musician" and get to play for experienced and great singers - like our voice sensei, Craig Shimizu, Aolani Silva and Ken Sato.
It is a wonderful event to hear Japanese enka songs played by a live orchestra of 65 musicians.

On the way back to Honolulu we passed by the extensive construction work of the rail system.

And stopped at Monterey Bay Cannery.
The old watercress farm is still there.
Last time we dined at the restaurant was when it was still at Wards Center in Ala Moana.

Vet's office.  Time for Penny's teeth cleaning.
We dropped her off at 8:30 a.m. and picked her up at 3:30.
During that time she was anesthetized, had a catheter inserted into her arm, and had the tartar removed from her teeth.

She was a bit woozy, and very quiet because the tube must've hurt her throat.

One of the vets giving her a last check.

Safe at home, but still dazed by what had happened to her.
