Here and there with Liz and CL

Christmas is drawing near and Penny is relieved that, so far, at least, the only holiday outfit she has to wear is a collar full of bells.
A wonderful gift for us is the arrival of Liz and CL for a brief visit to Hawaii.
Here we go...Liz and I finding new places to visit.
After a nice Zumba workout at the gym, we head to Ward's Center and tried Agu Ramen.

A rich bowl of tonkotsu broth, with black garlic oil, sesame seeds, crisp garlic flakes and egg.

Modern interior of Agu.

A stroll through Ward's Center.

Later, we meet again for our traditional dinner at Ginza Bairin, a tonkatsu restaurant in Waikiki.

Welcome to Hawaii!

Here we go, the freshly steamed rice in it's pot arrives.  The crispy fillet tonkatsu is accompanied by a big airy mound of finely chopped lettuce.  The tonkatsu sauce is tasty, especially with lots of freshly ground sesame seeds, but the mustard also goes well with the pork.

Another tradition for us is to have dessert at the shop down the street.
CL in his elephant t -shirt he bought in Sri Lanka, their latest trip, which also included the Taj Mahal.

Salted Caramel gelato and a macaroon for Liz.

Since it was still early, we went to see the new International Market Place.
There are many ways to enjoy it, besides shopping and eating.
Sitting is one, especially since there are many comfortable corners for just lounging.

Harbor Restaurant at Pier 38.
A very pretty place, but the noise level is pretty high!

We all liked the Corn Chowder, with lots of stuff in it, including a couple of pieces of bread and lots of cheese.

Generous portions.  Here the Sea Bass with Miso Sauce.

The Rib Eye Steak.

And my favorite, Affogato, the fancy coffee float.

Something new.  A shuttle that took us to the parking lot from the restaurant.
