Chez Kenzo, Hindeloopen, lantanas

A light meal at Chez Kenzo.
Mentaiko Pasta.  The cod
roe is creamy and a bit
spicy and very nice.  Their
pasta is always al dente!

R opted for the pork katsu
don, a favorite of his since
the Tokyo days.

There were so many things to learn in Tokyo.  I took lessons
from a Japanese lady who taught Hindeloopen decorative
painting at her home.
My beginner's attempt looks stiff (napkin holder on right), while
my teacher's green tray (which I bought) is very detailed and
pretty.
The bread tray I had bought in Hindeloopen when we went to the Netherlands, is freely painted with a feeling of movement.
Hindeloopen stamp on the back.
Traditionally, the men, who were
sailors and fishermen, did the
painting
when the weather was bad.

Hindeloopen is a maritime city
on the northern coast of the
Netherlands.  Driving into
the city we saw this gentleman in wooden clogs hurrying in the rain.

Very picturesque with narrow streets and wooden bridges.

On our walk today Penny's bathroom stop was full of white lantana flowers.
I remember seeing red, orange, yellow and even purple lantanas in my mother's garden, but not white.
