Monday afternoon at Kahala Beach

This afternoon, we picked
up plate lunches and headed
to Kahala Beach Park, hoping
it wouldn't be crowded.

Diamond Head Grill.
Tried the BBQ Pork Rib
Plate.

Luckily the park wasn't
crowded and we had a
nice table.

It wasn't windy and the
old Hao tree's branches
provided ample shade.

Gnarled bark.

Maybe we should've chosen something easier to eat.

A para surfer on his way  to the ocean.
We saw three.  It must take great coordination and balance, but they were speeding wonderfully back and forth.  And when they fell they made it look easy to get right back on the board.

This spot is popular as a romantic background for wedding photographs.
Today we saw only this very casual couple, but as we left, a limousine was entering the parking area.

Gentle ripples where the stream meets the sea.

An old gentleman who was taking a walk along the beach smiled at us and gestured to the sea and said, "a monday afternoon.  What more do we need?"
