We usually avoid the big holiday buffets so we had our Easter breakfast today at our usual Orchids with Grandma. |
Creatures of habit that we are, Grandma and I had the Japanese breakfast and R had the American. The Salmon has a delicate teriyaki taste, and comes with spinach, a bit of cod roe, kamaboko fish cake, a bowl of root vegetables, various pickles and seaweed (nori and kombu), and clam miso soup. There is a choice of papaya or pineapple too. The American breakfast is the usual eggs, breakfast meats, toast, and tomatoes. |
We had a relaxed and leisurely time looking at the ocean and all the beautiful orchids in the room. There have always been these beautiful Butterfly Orchids at the entrance and Grandma took this photo with my iPhone. |
Grandma always laments that she doesn't see the pure red anthiriums that were so common in her girlhood. These green ones even looked like their leaves. |

After an invigorating Naginata lesson where the class actually got to hit Nobu clad in bogu (practice armor), we had a light supper of Bratwurst and Sauerkraut at Cafe Laufer. Their bread and dinner rolls are so light and crunchy. |

Later, as we drove to Manoa SC's Fendu to buy some Easter bread, we passed these colorful trees bringing a little spring color to the green of Manoa. |

Since it's Easter, what else but bunny ears?? Before Penny could slink away I grabbed her for a Happy Easter photo with Fendu's Italian Sweet Bread and Macaroons. |
