The Manifest, Hasbro Bistro

Today, we wanted to try the toasts and coffee  that  Manifest,  in Chinatown, serves in the morning from 8 a.m.
They are also pet friendly, although we left Penny at puppy day care.

It is a hipster bar at night, and a cafe during the day.

Not being hipsters, or even young,  we found the ambience
interesting.
But I like the idea of good Waialua coffee, and toasts
like avocado and sea salt, and lilikoi goat cheese, that were shown on Yelp.

Great bar, but , hmm,
they stopped serving toasts a couple of weeks ago.
The coffee is good, the helpful girls at the bar said, and so is
the shortbread.

The coffee, Waialua (Oahu's own beans)
Americana, was delicious.
And no, we're not that messy.  The shortbread crumbled and flew around as soon as you bit into it.

There was a water bowl for dogs nearby, too.

Luckily, Hasro Bistro, a couple of blocks away, was open for lunch at 10:30

I used to come here often when the Grand Cafe was on this site.
The interior still has it's warm golden color.

The background music was nostalgic with standards like Beyond the Sea and Moonlight Serenade.

The Kabayaki Hitachi Short Ribs and Opah Sandwich.

Guava Sorbet and Rum Creme Brûlée.

HASR stands for Highly Allocated Spoiled Rotten, as the water glasses, menus and server's sleeve will remind you.

The scones next door are delicious, the server said.

You can see the wines as you enter.

But in an alcove to the left is a little area where the scones are.

I got the Caramelized Peach Gorgonzola and the organic Blueberry and Lemon for tomorrow morning's coffee.
We should venture into Chinatown more frequently.
