Shimizu Voice 2016 Showcase

Little Grass Shack
R and his hula dancers.  He's all decked out in his  Palaka shirt, Puukenekene leis and maile hat.  Denise and I are in our cellophane skirts.
Denise, her wonderful personality brightening the dance, in a citron skirt.
I'm in a copper skirt.   First experience for me dancing in a cellophane skirt.  I was relieved that the strips don't split apart as much as I thought they would!
She coordinated our wardrobe perfectly, from the hair flowers, to the matching leis and hip heis, and fern cuff.

Thank you Denise for the cute and lively dance moves.

We had fun!
Ginza Kankan Musume!
Cute song evocative of the post war Ginza.
There were so many talented performers...

Tevita Apina, with his mustache, singing as female singer Miyako Harumi, and Amy Katsumoto, singing as male singer Oka Chiaki, had the audience  in stitches during their rendition of "Naniwa Koi Shigure", about a wife following and caring for her husband.

12 year old KZOO Grand Champion Aolani Silva did a breathtaking performance of "Genroku Meisofu Tawaraboshi Genba".

The lunch was delicious and there was Janie, who will hopefully perform at our next recital.

Denise and Jay.  Thank you!!!

..And our wonderful Sensei, Craig Shimizu.
We are grateful for his presenting this very entertaining, fun and relaxed showcase every year.   It involves  a lot of time and effort
getting 48 numbers up and running!
