Rokkaku, Kona Grill

Lunch with May at Rokkaku Hamakatsu in the Ala Moana Mall today.

I always like to look at the little paper mache dolls in the entryway.  Cute and folk "craftsy."

R had his Sushi Bowl, which, unfortunately, wasn't up to par.

May said the Tonkatsu was very good today.

My Madaikashira Ni had lots of nice fish fat and didn't smell or taste fishy at all.  He had little buck teeth, which I tried not to look at.

Dessert was green tea and black sesame ice cream.

Later in the afternoon after dealing with a plumbing problem in our guest bathroom, we headed to Waikiki and the International Market Place.

Kuhio Street is so modernized now with the new Ritz Carlton Condominium's interesting facade.  The Dean and Delucca  store on the corner of the first floor looked buffeted by wind as usual.
When we sat outside there once a couple of months ago, the wind was just too strong to enjoy our coffee.
The valet told us it's either strong winds or humid heat.

Entry to the International Market Place parking on Kuhio Ave.

It was quite empty, but there were folks enjoying the sun in the many lounging areas.
We were still full from lunch at Rokkaku's so we decided on just drinks and pupus for dinner at Kona Grill.

It's funny that Roy's, Strip Steak and Kona Grill have a similar layout and look, with a bar, outdoor seating and open kitchen, in a natural minimalist setting.
The seventh game of the World Series between the Chicago Cubs and the Cleveland Indians was playing on the many screens by the bar area.

Open kitchen with a Sushi Bar to the left.

Indoor seating area.

Avocado Egg Roll.  Crispy and tasty.

Chicken Satay.  A bit salty, but tender.

R and I shared the Butter Cake, which was so good.

His Key Lime Pie was too heavy.

With our validation we paid only $2.00 for parking.

Airy, light and spacious parking structure.
