Vote!, Hotpot, Claire at KZOO, tsukemen

Election Day today!
We did early voting on Friday.
There was Hokulani, the fashionable Pom, who is everywhere  with her dark glasses and red, white and blue outfit.

There was quite a crowd, but the lines went very quickly.
On the bulletin boards by the lines were pinned the 20 Charter Amendments we are to vote on, hopefullly waiting to be read and understood (preferably as a review) as we stood in line.

Later we had a late lunch (early dinner?) at Little Sheep Mongolian Hotpot restaurant at Ward's Center.

The broth comes with lots of herbs, like ginseng, and natsume, goji berries, and dried seeds.

Lots of white items, like tofu, dried tofu, yuba, enoki mushrooms, daikon radish, potatoes.  I order the vegetarian plate.  Others come with meat balls, and a variety of meats to choose from.

And on Sunday was the exciting 36th KZOO Karaoke Contest at the Waikiki Prince Hotel Maunakea Ballroom.

There were many winners from Shimizu Voice -from the Junior division to the Super Senior division.
I was especially excited and happy because Claire Ganiko won the Super Senior category singing Kumanokodo.
This after last week Friday's wonderful exhibition dancing and voice solo at "Hulaween". (Yay for youthful 80 year olds)

Finally, we went to the Golden Pork restaurant on King Street, the other day.
Always thought it was a Chinese Restaurant,  because of the name, but there was a feature on it on tv recently, and the tsukemen ramen looked good.

The interior is pretty, but dark.

There was the Golden Pig.

Exotic decorations, but I guess it fits the ramen mood.

Nice Gyoza

Interesting mayonnaise pork buns .  Nice but buns were a bit dried around the edges.

Dip the flat noodles into the broth (mine was black garlic oil) with the chopped ear mushrooms and green onions.   Later, you can add a light colorless broth to make a soup to drink.
It was too heavy and salty for me.   Maybe will come back to try the regular ramen.
