Pint and Jigger, Jimbos

After a very busy day which started with Zumba class and continued with our last voice lesson before the recital on Sunday,  a golf lesson for Roy, and other things to be done at the mall, we headed to Jimbos for a light udon/soba supper.
We still had 40 minutes to wait before Jimbos opened so we decided to try the Pint and Jigger which was next door.
Nice place for a beer.  Just opened so it was still quiet.
There are 21 beers on tap and some original cocktails as well as food.
R had a Scrimshaw Pilsner draft.

At Jimbo's, I had my usual Hoso Kamaage Udon,  iced udon with shrimp tempura.  Very refreshing with slices of lemon and extra crunchy bits of the tempura batter.

Picking Penny up from Pets in the City.
The dogs are so eager to go home they gather and bark to see who is the lucky one whose people came to take them home.

New things for Penny, Lewers Lounge

A new bed for Penny

At the Pet Expo we bought a raw bone for Penny and she loves it. She can spend an hour and a half just chewing on and around it.

                                        Lewer's Lounge

Italian Bento
So good.  Olives, Feta cheese, eggplant dip and hummus, Prosciutto and fruit

The strawberry and basil martini and glass of Merlot

Atmospheric and quiet on a tuesday night

Because we had to pick up Penny at 9  we could only hear one song by Maggie Heron and Rockford Holmes, who come on at 8:30.

Mother's Day, Michel's, Pet Expo, Dave and Busters

So.  R said I had a choice.  Mother's Day brunch at our favorite Michel's, or Penny's Obedience training classes at the park.  Hmm.   Michel's, or Obedience Training.      Hmm

                                                Michel's

Voggy, and slight rain, but overall still beautiful.
A chance to see Michel's during the day

Mimosa and fruits

I had the Caprese salad, Coulibiac of fish, and the Framboise for dessert.  So did R, except he opted for the Yellowfin Ahi Poke.  All were delicious.

Lovely turqoise pendant from M.
After brunch we went to see the Pet Expo at the Blaisdell.

It was the second day, but still very crowded with people bringing their cute dogs.
Penny would've barked at them all so it was better that she contained her barking to her friends at the Pet Day Care.

                                There were fashionistas ..

And many cuties, like this King Charles Spaniel.
And cats, like this lion cat.
Since we still had time before picking Penny up,  we headed to Dave and Busters (only place open at that time)
Eda mame.  Just right after a big brunch!

Penny was so happy to see us after one full day at puppy day care.
She got a bone when we got home.

Today started off with our yearly Naginata Testing for ranking at the Ala Wai Paladium.  It's a great venue - wide, clean and air conditioned.
   We missed Janie and Lance.

Reviewing kata moves before the test.

Candidates Carol and Arthur.  Sempais Tony and Kathy are helping with the bokken.

We are always treated to musubi from Manabus.  Here they are being passed out to be eaten later.

The talented youngest members, Grant and Christy.  You can tell they're good by their poses.

Denise sempai helping Sharon with her number.
Sharon

Amy, who along with Sharon, just started and is being tested on her basics.

Old timers Tony and Milton.
Tony and I are helping Carol and Arthur with the sword part of

katas 1 and 2.

After the test, we all gather outside and have our musubi.  They taste so good after the tension and discipline of the test.
Gochisosama.

Border collie Penny-kinda sorta looks like our Penny-was her friend today at Pets in the City.
So good to see you too.

Celebrating an early Mother's day with grandma

Gma always likes to avoid the holiday crowds and prices at buffets on holidays, so we took her to her favorite Orchids and had a nice leisurely breakfast, although it was more crowded than usual.
Gma in her pretty blouse from Liz.
The rest of the family in Tokyo, on the mainland and Maui, were in our thoughts!

Our usual American breakfast.  Of course, we had rice also, along with our popovers.

Sparrows among the orchids.

Boy's Day

                                            Happy Boy's Day

The kids celebrating with cake.
It was fun to see all the stores and homes around Japan take on the colors and decorations of all the holidays throughout the seasons.
Koi nobori and shobu (carp banners and iris) come to mind for May 5th,  Tango no Sekku.

R dropped me off at the mall while he did some chores and I had  a latte at Honolulu Coffee with a dove.  So relaxing.

A late lunch at the Pineapple Room where I had my usual burger, and R tried the ahi sandwich.
Should have gone to Azteca for Cinco de Mayo, but we forgot!

Pets in the City.
Penny is a mini dachshund after all.

Patients Penny and Pudgie

Here's Penny

Here's Pudgie

Ointment to his feet after a nice spurt in the tail area where he's been picking his feathers.
Good bird.  Doesn't bite.

Here we go, Penny.  Chicken flavored toothpaste and a nice finger brush.

Aack.  Good girl.
