53 by the Sea

After several days of combatting a
head cold it was nice to have
a Christmas lunch with Grandma,
P and M.

We went to 53 by the Sea,
on the site of the former
John Dominis.

It has been
a while, but this was our third visit here
(once for dinner, and once
with visitors from Japan) and
I must say we still did a lot of
waiting.

An assortment of Amuse Bouche, which is complementary
with any order, finally came.

Another long wait and the
soups finally arrived.
P's Lobster Bisque.

Grandma had the tender
Filet Mignon and enjoyed it.
Roy, P and M had the
sandwiches which they declared
just ok.

This was my Chirashi Zushi,
looking like a little cake,
with hamachi, salmon, ahi,
ikura, and hearts of palm over
shiso sushi rice.  It was
good, but more like a fancy Poke rather than a
chirashi.

Dessert also came with each meal.
The long wait for the meal to arrive and the
less than warm service (inexperienced waiters?)
will still be what we remember most about this
restaurant, unfortunately.
