HIFF's Ask This of Rikyu

The Hawaii International Film Festival was showing "Ask This Of Rikyu" and as a former Urasenke Tea Ceremony student,  I was invited by  K , who is presently taking lessons, to go with her to see this film about the founder of the wabi/sabi style of sado, Sen no Rikyu.
His story and anecdotes are of course familiar to those who have an interest in Japanese history and Tea Ceremony but this film added a flashback about his youthful love for a beautiful Korean girl held captive in Japan.  She dies but he is unable to forget her even until the day of his seppuku suicide at the order of Toyotomi, Hideyoshi.
Kabuki actors Ichikawa, Ebizo (Rikyu) and Ichikawa, Danjuro (his teacher) starred in this film.

It has been a couple of  years since I last saw a film at Dole Cannery Theaters.
