Penelope, Rokkaku

Penny doing her
best to demolish
her ball.

She still fits in a bag, but it's getting
harder.

How about those Warriors!
                                                                                        * * * * * * *

Penny  had to wait at Puppy Day Care while M and I had lunch at Rokkaku, at Ala Moana SC.
Their special, Tonkatsu with 5 grain rice.
M did a good job grinding the sesame.
My Ahi Belly Nitsuke, was nicely seasoned and not too heavy with the shoyu sauce it's boiled in.  The julienned ginger added the needed bite.

Dessert was home made
Caramel Ice Cream...
…and green tea ice cream with
shiratama, and crispies over
whipped cream.

Fendu Bakery's Kobe Beef burger for dinner.

And a Cherry dessert from the Japanese Confectionary, Minamoto Kitchoan in the Mall.

Penny is so happy to be with M again.

Tango Cafe, Aloha Dog

The other day we went to Tango for breakfast, since Penny was at Aloha Dog day care.  It's a popular restaurant on the floor level of the Hokua Building in Ala Moana.

One of the things I love there is the coffee.
Lovely cups with crema greet us - a delicious sight after having fasted for a routine blood test, which we just completed.

I tried the Swedish Pytt i Panna, and R had the Farm Fresh Egg plate.  We shared Buttermilk Pancakes, although the Swedish Pancakes are good also.
According to the menu, Pytt i Panna is "stuff in a pan"with Sunny Side Eggs.  I had the Original ham and sausage sauté.

                                                *****      ******                 *******  ******

We brought Grandma some Salmon plate lunches from Shirokiya, which used to sell all varieties of Japanes goods, but now concentrates mostly on its take out food items and stalls.

Lychees from someone's tree that we had for dessert.

Picking Penny up at Aloha Dog.   These were some of her companions today.  They all bark and look up eagerly to see if their owners have finally arrived to get them.

Penny is the lucky one!

New Warrior Fan, Lapperts, Sakura Terrace

The new Golden State Warriors Fan!
Penny's kerchief from Liz.

Stopped in at the Waikiki Hilton Hotel yesterday, and of course had to stop in at Lappert's Ice Cream Parlor.  Such great flavors.

Intriguing name and ingredients.

This leaf growing along the driveway was so glowingly green.

We had a light supper at Yuzu in the Ala Moana Hotel.

Their Temari Sushi.
Hamachi 5 Ways.

Love the avocado with Myoga and Ogo with Wasabi Sauce.
The pears were buttery and so good with the crispy ogo and
myoga (ginger buds).

French fries fancied up with dips.

Today, Kathy, Melissa and I had lunch at Sakura Terrace,
a restaurant near us, but one that we have never tried.
Luckily, Melissa recommended it and it may turn out to be one of  my favorites.

It has a bar.

A green terrace around the interior.   Doors are open but you don't feel hot because of the air conditioning and it's hard to believe busy King Street is right past the palms.

My Tempura with Somen noodles was  good.

Melissa's Spicy Ahi Donburi is a favorite.

Kathy's Salmon Donburi was good, too.

Sakura Parfait

Green Tea Ice Cream.

The little table on the right holds cell phone cases and little gift items for sale.
Always happy to try a new place.

Life is too short to wear boring collars, II.

Ah, how true.  Great motto.
This is the chic CA pet store where Liz got Penny's leopard collar and sassy toys.      Not only are the toys fun to look at and throw, they are very hardy and not boring.

Newest toy.  Color coordinated with her fur.

This one, from 2 years ago, finally succumbed  to her chewing.
The tough rubber-like interior was fun while it lasted.

Heeding the shop's sign, Penny is  in her non-boring best.
She didn't like it much,  though.
Jay took this photo of a Hula Dog at the May Day
Hula Show at Kapiolani Park.
How cute is that!!

Prince Court, Jimbo's

Breakfast with Liz at Prince Court.
It was a relaxing couple of hours.  The Marina view was pretty with blue skies.  The buffet was nice, too.

It was fun, but a bit sad since she is returning to
CA this afternoon.
We had such a nice time and look forward to their next trip to Honolulu.

Before heading to the airport R and Liz dropped me off at Jimbo's where we met Audrey and chatted for a bit until it opened.

I had room for our favorite Kama Age Hosoudon with Tempura.
Cold, thin udon noodles with shrimp tempura, and crisps, lemon, ginger, sesame, daikon, and green onions for the dipping sauce.
Audrey and I keep saying we'll try something different but somehow end up ordering this.
Have a pleasant and safe flight home, Liz.

House Without a Key, ribbon leis

This morning started with breakfast at House Without a Key.

The trades were balmy and no sign of rain.

The old Kiawe tree gave its shade.

Red anthuriums.
Grandma said the spike should be half green and should  be pointing to the tip of the heart shaped spathe (modified leaf).

It was great to see the Aunties again.

After breakfast we went to this store - always a pleasant place to visit.
Besides the myriads of ribbons and items needed to make ribbon leis, there are free lei making classes.

Colorful samples inspire the imagination.

Lauhala turtle.

After picking up some batteries and other useful items we stopped in at Palm d'Or at Ala Moana SC for something cold to drink.

Can't believe it , but we were able to resist the beautiful pastries.

Jelly drinks.
Mocha, tea and juice.
Back to the gym tomorrow.
