Hey Penny, that's my dinner! But broccoli, ume, and tofu with kurogoma don't interest her. |
Trying to be cute is worth a try for a treat. |
R's dessert is so different from mine. He wanted ice cream and chamomile tea. |
Tea and melt in your mouth yokan and kopeito candy from a friend in Tokyo for me and Penny, except she didn't want any. |
My favorite pot, from over 15 y ears ago, made of Nambu iron with chidori (plover) flying over waves motif. Makes the tea taste better!

goya tempura |
Their soups are always skimmed well. |
What a lovely tenugui. Arigato. I remember when we first started living in Tokyo in the early 70's many stores and restaurants would give their patrons tenugui and little gifts around year end and the first three days of New Years especially. I remember one coffee shop in Ginza gave us three feathered shuttlecocks for the hagoita, a wooden decorative "paddle", that is symbolic of New Years. |
Agu a Ramen Bistro |
After we placed our orders, the restaurant filled up |
The shoyu tonkotsu with black sesame sauce and a small charsiu donburi. Glad we found a new ramen place. |
Penny knocked out after her visit to the vet. |
A nice waitress explained the menu to us |
Entrance on Isenberg St. across from the old stadium park. There's more parking in the back too. |
We had Penny groomed at Aloha Dog and they sent us this photo. |
Disgusted Penny |
Never thought I would be one of those who dress up innocent animals, but I had to see what she would look like as a reindeer. She put up a good fight, though. |
Kuhio Beach |
Diamond Head was so green because of recent rains. |
Guess where? The usually brown hill behind the archery range as you drive past Hanauma Bay towards Blowhole. |
Sandy Beach. |
Penny the seal |
Low tide. Saw a lady looking for sea glass, some fishermen, and people walking their dogs. |
Penny in one hand and a cold remedy in the other. |
Steve. Always makes our Chez Kenzo experiences so enjoyable. |
Central Union Christmas Eve Service. |
The Sanctuary is an inspiring and lovely place to be after the stress, crowds and noise as the year rushes to an end. Wish R could've enjoyed this Service too as he usually does every year. |
Nabeyaki Udon |
R's Oxtail soup nice and full of shiitake mushrooms. When we lived in Japan, we often received or bought fresh shiitake which I would cook over a grill and serve with shoyu and lemon. Maybe I ate too much but suddenly I developed an intolerance to them. |
Warm cough medicine. |
Good Penny slept on the bench next to me all through the dinner. |
Early morning Diamond Head. The sound of the surf and the many orchids add to the tranquility |
Their luminous white tree |
Always nice to talk to the old timer valets |
Grandma's favorite place, she doesn't mind walking through the long halls |
Penny is getting used to being left at Pets in the City. |
But she always looks forward to being picked up |
