Louis Zamperini and the USS Missouri; A cold day dinner

Saw an article that Angelina Jolie is directing a movie "Unbroken" about Louis Zamperini.

Reminds me that three years ago, thanks to Denise and Jay , R and I, with Janie and Isao went to the USS Missouri at Pearl Harbor to hear this amazing 94 year old  speak about his experiences.

What an exciting and thoughtful day that was.  Must go back and re-read Laura Hillenbrand's book "Unbroken".

We were told that missiles could
reach Kaneohe on the other
side of the Koolaus!

These ships are big!
Thanks to Jay's knowledge
of the Memorial we had
a great time exploring the
Aircraft Museum and the
USS Missouri.

We were surprised to find R's
parents names in the list of
original Plank Owners, along with
Jay's.

At Lupicia at the Mall the
special New Years tea is
"Otemba" for the year of
the Horse.  Otemba can also
mean a "tomboy".

An old Korean
gentleman told my mother to
boil a whole chicken with cloves
of whole garlic for a cold
weather soup.
