My "treasures", naginata, Hide chan, Petco

This morning I dusted my two favorite old treasures that I never tire of.    They really bring to mind "someone's treasure is another's rubbish".
The first is a pair of Byakkotai kokeshi dolls from Aizu Wakamatsu.
They were sent to me by a pen pal from Aizu in
Fukushima prefecture when I was about 13.
The girl doll on the left has an obi of cloth.

The second is a simple folk doll  that I found at one of the flea markets held monthly at various temples in Tokyo.   After I saw her at one  of the stalls,  I walked away then came back.  After doing this a couple of more times I bought her.

I guess she made me feel the joy of music when I looked at her.  She still does.

I found her at a flea market in Harajuku like this one.
It was very big and fun to walk through.

Today's naginata lesson was our second of the new year.

Lacey Sempai.  She started
lessons when she was
in grade school so even
the senseis in Japan
know her
Miura Sensei on the left
observing Sempais.

Goya tempura so it
must be Hidechans.
So crispy and light!
Salmon filet.

Rib eye smothered in onions.
Shared with R-10 ozs is too big!

Then off to Petco Penny's
favorite store.
There is a comfort station
for pets too.
