The first is a pair of Byakkotai kokeshi dolls from Aizu Wakamatsu.
They were sent to me by a pen pal from Aizu in Fukushima prefecture when I was about 13. The girl doll on the left has an obi of cloth. |

The second is a simple folk doll that I found at one of the flea markets held monthly at various temples in Tokyo. After I saw her at one of the stalls, I walked away then came back. After doing this a couple of more times I bought her. I guess she made me feel the joy of music when I looked at her. She still does. |
I found her at a flea market in Harajuku like this one. It was very big and fun to walk through. |
Today's naginata lesson was our second of the new year.
Lacey Sempai. She started lessons when she was in grade school so even the senseis in Japan know her |
Miura Sensei on the left observing Sempais. |
Goya tempura so it must be Hidechans. So crispy and light! |
Salmon filet. |
Rib eye smothered in onions. Shared with R-10 ozs is too big! |
Then off to Petco Penny's favorite store. |
There is a comfort station for pets too. |
